Not only is it a long weekend, it is also a weekend JAM PACKED with awesome things happening in the city of Vancouver. So much to choose from, I dont know which to go to, or maybe I should just do it all...

First there is the Harmony Arts Festival. Sip wine, shop the artisan market, watch artists paint landscapes outside, listen to live music...all by the ocean side! Marvelous
Picture
Or there is the Pride Parade. A celebration of diversity in Vancouver's West End
Picture
Or, the Japanese Festival in Oppenheimer Park! Taiko drummers, kimonos and sushi!
Picture
And of course, there is the last night of the Celebration of Light. Who doesn't like Fireworks!

Good thing its a long weekend! There is so much to choose from! Whatever the hubby and I decide to do, I promise we will take LOTS of pictures and tell you all about it.

Just one tune for today, but its a great one that will make you wanna dance! LOVES!

In other news, yesterday was my hubby and I's 2 year wedding anniversary! We celebrated with a picnic in the park, some bubbly and handmade gifts for each other. I made a scrap book of our lives leading up to, around and shortly after our wedding. Ryan designed a shadow box for me with our wedding vows inside! He even used our wedding stationary and put my garter inside....SO CUTE! The most thoughtful gift I have ever received!

In terms of crafty stuff I have a jury review tomorrow for the North Vancouver Community Arts Council to see if I am crafty enough to participate in the Lynn Valley Craft Fair! WISH ME LUCK! I am super nervous!!!!! Ryan insists I will be fine, but I am still a newbie and just hope my work is good enough. I am bring examples of my cameo pins, my felt stuffies, and a couple paintings.

Time for Fill in the Blank and New Friend Friday once again....

1.  A very nostalgic place that reminds me of being a kid is:    my grandparents house in Horseshoe Bay. It was HUGE, and not just because everything seems big as a child. It really was. I would get lost in it! But it was very home like, my grandmother sewed and cooked and my grandfather puttered in the garden. The yard was massive: one side of the house had a rock garden, the other a koi pond, the front a bamboo groove and the back a huge tree surrounded by wild flowers. It was the only place I ever felt safe, like myself, and loved.

2.  If someone really wants to show me how much they love me:    they will countinue to try, no matter how weird or awkward or distant I get...they will simply always be there.

3.  Lately I've been wondering a lot about:      whether or not I have what it takes to open an Etsy shop and start to do craft fairs. Will my work sell?

4.  When it comes to saving money: I need a goal. Without a goal I am a slave to my desires....but give me a deadline and a target to reach and suddenly I am Mz. Banker.

5.  I'd prefer: it if my husband didnt smoke, it's a battle I am tired of fighting.

6.  I wish I knew how to make:    clothing. Id love to sew myself pretty dresses

7.  I'm just waiting for:  an answer...
New Friend Fridays
On another note tomorrow night is the Michael Franti concert, and I am so excited! My hubby and I will be celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary. If you dont know who Michale Franti is YOU SHOULD! Here is a taste>>>

I am working super hard right now on setting up an Etsy shop (and hunting out various craft fairs to have a table at!). As I plug away, and hunt online to make sure I am staying unique, creating a product, I keep stumbling on these amazing finds! I decided I should start sharing some of them with you all. They are just to great!

First off, this dress! OMG! Loves! It makes me want to run around in a meadow and throw fabulous tea parties! Totaly french country chique!
Picture
Then there is this fabulous piece of fiber art! I love that it is black and white and so wonderfully textured. The lace and ribbon balance out the anatomy factor...
Picture
Then there isYalipaz....I cannot even begin to tell you how much I adore her work! So unique, and such fine detail. She makes these lovely lady pins, so flirty!
Picture
And last but not least, this embroidery hoop piece. It is part of a series called"Out of Place" that explores the thoughts and feelings around isolation. It reminds me of how far I have come, and yet also makes me proud of all I have been through and all i have learned.

It's Tuesday, you know what time it is! Time for Tuesday's Tunes, here are some of my current faves. What are you listening to right now?

Sorry for the M.I.A kittens, I was out of town camping in Merritt for three lovely days. I am back now and am slowly catching up on a massive to do list, which includes posting some pictures of the STUNNING campsite we stayed at. Here is a lil treat for now....

Hello kittens! I have a very diverse taste in music....I listen to pretty much anything except for misogynistic rap and death metal. I love to share music and make CD's for friends at work. Enter, new weekly blog post: TUESDAY TUNES! Each and every Tuesday I will expose you to some random awesome track that I am currently obsessed with and that I think you should be aware of. Everyone loves discovering new music right? So here we go! Here are some current faves:
What did you think? What are you currently listening to? Do share!

Mondays are made much more bearable by playing along with Much Love Monday. I hate Mondays, like hate with the passion of a million really really pissed off bees. GARH. But I love pretty pictures, and I adore hearts and love. Suddenly Monday's are a little bit more bearable. Except I am hungover, so it still kind of sucks balls.

I love my camera. My super-awesome-totaly-fantastic-kick-ass Canon digital SLR. I take it everywhere with me, it is my biggest source of artistic inspiration right now. What do you just ADORE at the moment? What inspires you, gets your motor purring? Here are some pictures I found via WeHeartIt that make inspire me...

1.  My favorite thing about this week has been: watching my veggie garden grow! My strawberries are ripening and I have little wee baby tomatoes! YAY!

2.  The weather this week has been: Hot and sunny and WONDERFUL! Our summer just started now, about time!

3.  The last (interesting) item I received in the mail was: my Happy Mail package from Cassidy, it was full of fun treats and crafts!

4.  The last movie I saw was: Eclipse, yes I am a Twilight geek! But my husband came with me!!! God I love tht man

5.  If I could be doing anything I felt like today I would: be floating in my pool reading a book and working on my tan....le sigh. I wish!

6.  As a teenager I was: a lot like I am now. I am returning to my creative roots, I did a lot of art as a teenager to help me cope with some major trauma and I find I am using art to heal and grow once more.

7.  I wish I could trade lives for the day with: no one. I am to busy trying to live mine to its fullest potential.
Now its time for some photos of my super-awesome-fantastico-all-organic veggie garden!
Phew! This was a long post, if you are still here thanks for reading!
Peace and Pickles!

New Friend Fridays

I used to have sad thoughts all the time....then I made some changes and now its not so often anymore. I make art. I take photos. I draw, paint, journal, craft...
Picture
I get outside. Get dirt under my nails. I see God in the food I grow for my family and it humbles me....
Picture
I try to only think happy thoughts, let me inner child roam and play within my mind.
Picture
But sometimes, the sad thoughts come back. Like today I had this random thought about a time that I looked at my brother and I could just tell he was so sad.
Picture
Why do I beat myself up for something I had no power over, 15 years later? Why do some thoughts and memories have the power to haunt us? Why do we give them that power?
Picture
We remember the sad things because there is beauty in them too. We remember them so that we appreciate all of the good in this world. All of the love. All of the joy.
